Brunch restaurant
Cafe chain serving creative breakfast dishes & sandwiches in a cheery, contemporary atmosphere.
Yummy food and good portions! THE PLACE: The restaurant is neatly and modern decorated and definitely felt like a “breakfast” joint. It was SUPERRRR clean, especially the bathrooms, I was very impressed. THE FOOD: The taste, portion and presentation of the food outstanding! I ordered the West Coast Crepes and my friend ordered the California Omelet. My crepes were sinfully sweet but not overbearing, inside, they were heavily stuffed with deliciousness and blended beautifully on my taste buds. The roasted potatoes that came with the dish were good too. My friend highly enjoyed the California Omelet wit a side of pancakes. As a surprise, we were gifted a sweet crepe. This crepe was stuffed with Nutella and topped with strawberry’s, bananas, chocolates, powdered sugar and whip crème! It not only looked romantic and artistic but it was sooooo scrumptious! I can honestly say, I have never has such a delicious sweet crepe. THE SERVICE: Upon entry, we were greeted and immediately sat. Our waiter was professional and nice, and the cooking staff/chefs were fast, dedicated and sweet! No complaints here, only high recommendations for others to come!
First time being to “Yolk”(Any Yolk, of course this particular one too). Been here for breakfast on a friday morning. The lady at the counter was very welcoming, lead us the way inside. At first I was bit intimidated by the appearance of the crowd inside the restaurant, everyone around was so formally dressed. Lol, I was way under dressed comparatively( jeans n T-shirt). Not that it requires any kind of dress code, looks like it’s the usual group who works around the OTC. Yolk is situated on the first floor of OTC building(right corner of shopping center). Ambience was bright and colorful(Also super loud at the time). I should specially call out the lady/staff who attended our table. I can’t remember her name but she was very cheerful and fun. Patiently waited until we decided what to order. Orders iron man omlette and red velvet French toast . It didn’t take much time for the food to get out. Food was an absolute delight, especially the toast . Out of the world, everything tasted so fresh and good. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the e visit to this place and will absolutely go back again. Highly recommended!!!
Delicious. Great service. Reasonable prices for the city. What else can you ask for? The seating was a little tight in the area we were seated in, but we survived. It’s also a great spot for people watching. I got eggs and sausage. It was delicious. Some vendors cater early meetings from here and I’ve enjoyed everything Yolk has made, from burritos to skillets and everything in between. I hope this place will continue to attract customers in this crazy pandemic!
Even though this coronavirus is affecting Restaurants around the yolk really Satisfied my taste buds
Extensive variety of high quality meals served up in ample quantities. Bright, welcoming interior. Excellent service. Go early, before 8:30 or 9:00, to avoid/reduce waiting.
Their portions are HUGE! The Countryside Skillet was filling in itself, but it also comes with a side of pancakes. We had to take the pancakes to-go because we were stuffed. I really liked the Very Berry French Toast as well. It was a great complement of sweetness to our savory skillet dish. The service is fantastic here, everyone was super friendly and our waitress was great! The restaurant is pretty large and can fit tons of people. However, the seating can be a bit cramped because the tables are arranged peculiarly. You will probably have to squeeze by other patrons when going to your seat. The price was very reasonable, especially given the amount of food you get. Overall, a great breakfast place that will get you stuffed!
7/29/2019 My coworker comes to work with the most awful breakfast for starters the grits were so watery you can use a straw to suck them up the bacon was nearly done and the eggs were scrambled but over cooked the one thing that got her was the runny grits she called immediately to let them know the issues spoke to Janelly which basically called her a liar bc she packed the food and everything was perfect and she had no other complaints well 1st of all everyone want complain they’ll deal with it but this time we’re complaining due to Janelly at Yolk not showing any sympathy after expressing to her the grits were runny a few times she says she’ll issue a credit for the grits my co worker comes to this place all the time maybe they had a different cook today but it’s not good to call a customer a liar
Yolk is exactly what one would expect from a downtown Chicago take on an omelet and sandwich diner. It sports bright cheery decor with light woods and splashes of yellow and blue. And the service is equally cheery and polished. I ordered the croque madame with potatoes. It was piled with a copious amount of ham and turkey. Just the right amount of sauce, and a hint of sweetness. My only complaint was that the sunny side up egg was cooked much less than my preference, and the potatoes were a little under done as well. A few seconds back on the grill and the egg on top was a perfect over easy with a liquid yolk. Prices are slightly high for what you get. But what can one expect in the loop. And I’ll get at least one more meal from my breakfast leftovers. So overall not bad. Figure $15-18 per person.
Omelet you in on a little secret: if you are brooding over a place to scramble up your weekend brunch routine, you can say yellow to a new favorite. I promise this one will go over easy with everyone in your group! All cheesy puns aside, this turned out to be a hit for a new breakfast spot on a recent Windy City weekend with a friend. We were headed to the West Loop one morning in Chicago, and after seeing the ratings and photos of Yolk, we decided that was the place for us. Located in the first floor of what seems to be a shopping center, it’s sprawling and modern, and we were immediately seated. The menu is almost overwhelming — everything looks delicious! I finally decided on the El Torero Scrambler, ans my friend went for the Avocado toast with salmon. Service is extremely prompt here, and it felt like 5 minutes later that our food arrived. After swapping a little of each of what we ordered, we dug in. My scrambler was exactly what I was looking for with a filling and savory selection; I got the savory potatoes “crispy” and they looked, well, a little too crispy. Maybe next time I’ll just get them cooked normally. While Avocado toast is not usually my go-to, the one here was exceptional. One bite of my friend’s toast and I was trying to figure out how to emulate the recipe at home. So, don’t be a chicken, head on over and I think you’ll agree, that this flocking place will leave everyone feeling sunny side up!
Decent basic breakfast is served here with quick and friendly service. I had my usual 2 eggs over easy with potatoes, whole grain toast, and an extra side of ketchup. I like ketchup on my ketchup. The place was nearly full at 10 in the morning, but my plate arrived in less than 5 minutes. I took my time eating. All was as expected, and it was quite relaxing. I would come back next time I’m in Chicago.
