Grand opening – limited menu today! No chile rellenos, no tostadas, no enchiladas, no tortas… The pork was the most anticipated of the grand opening offerings and while prepared well, the flavor was off the mark from it’s predecessor and big sister, sadly closed restaurant Taco Erendira. Can’t tell you how deeply I have missed this to articulate my sadness that the flavor just wasn’t there. The chicken tacos were very close and tasty, along with the chips, beans and rice. I wish more chips came in an order as they did at Erendira. I want Taco E to succeed. I just hope the Taco E Team wants it as bad after Erendira was in the neighborhood for 50 years and built a solid following. Not insurmountable, but Taco E needs to hold true to all the basics before wanting to expand the menu and experiment. Maybe consider hiring a former Erendira chef to join the team and win the Erendira base over; there’s a few out there. Wishing you only the best!!

A no frills local joint. Clean and simple space. Got chicken quesadilla dinner, ground beef taco and grilled steak taco. Chicken quesadilla: juicy and savory. There was ample cheese, the seasoning was light and tasty, and the vegetables were a fresh crunch. Taco: soft shell tacos with cheese and veggies. The meat was tender and flavorful. It’s over the counter service. The two gentlemen manning the counter were very friendly. As we waited for our food, they chatted and consistently checked in on our food. It wasn’t a long wait, but they kept us entertained and well taken care of in that short span of time. Recommend for dinner, lunch, late snacks yum!

I was so excited to support taco e! I loved Taco erinderia & had great hope for the reincarnation. Nah!!!! I ordered a ground beef tostada & an avocado taco. All I tasted was the green sauce I added to give it some taste! Bland, nothing like the original! Soooooo disappointing!!

Not at all what I was expecting. Having been a lifelong customer of the original Tacos Erendira, hopes were high for this famous chips, nachos, steak, chicken tinga and beans and rice. Sadly, none lived up to the expectations we had. There was no seasoning on the chicken whatsoever. Very little of anything else even on my burrito besides chicken? Where was the lettuce? Beans? Maybe even some cheese? All unseasoned white chicken- tinga is the seasoning with cumin etc…making everything tinged red. I do a better chicken tinga in my crockpot! The steak was hard and dry and sparse. Our nachos were $12. We asked for the peppers and steak nachos. Not sure what was worse- the cost of that or the thought of paying $6 for chips with cheddar cheese and little to no beans on them. The chips themselves were not what they used to be. The beans and rice had no flavor at all. Reminded me of bland hospital food. And the green sause yasted like ground black pepper and thats it. No exciting mexican spices here at all folks. As for the service: we were the only ones in there. Had heard horror stories about lines around the corner. One of the reasons we walked in was due to the fact there wasn’t a line. 2 people at the counter. With a limited menu they really had a difficult time taking our order. Menu stated exactly what comes on a prepared meal or item. Everything we ordered we were asked “what do you want on it.?” Response to them was exactly what you put on it- as your menu states. Counter people maybe had difficulty speaking which, if there is a speech difficulty that’s fine but if I have to keep asking 2 people to speak up we can’t hear you and pardon me numerous times then maybe the blaring metallica in the radio next to our heads should be turned down. It was enough to make us not want to return. Also, can’t imagine how people will wait on orders once cold weather kicks in. Once we were home and we saw the size of things and boxes….huh. Costs could definitely be cut if they weren’t using partitioned plastic containers that take up much too much space in the trash and the fancy bags that are used. Wrap my stuff so I can reheat it if I want to and easily dispose of waste. Nobody is eating thinking wow great container and petty bags. It made eating difficult out of those containers. What a mess. Needless to say 40 bucks later and we were grilling brats in the yard because the food was so little and flavorless we didnt even finish. So sad. It definitely did not live up to the hype built up over the summer. Hopefully the owners will read their customer reviews and make changes where needed…otherwise not sure how this place will fare in the long run. Side note…when leaving another customer who was super loud went in complaining of how their order was messed up and they were not happy with service etc…so it was not just us dissatisfied. Hope they can turn things around.

I used to come here which is shared with Ajo 2-10 times a month. Recently they launched “Taco E”. My main issue with the new store is threefold. One, it used to be a transparent made-to-order open kitchen format bowl line where one could see each ingredient and its quality. Now there is a rolling counter in front of the counter which glass is no longer transparent. Second the service is horrible post-change. Third, they want to charge upscale Nana or Ajo prices for mid-low quality Mexican food. With the old system, I would talk to the old employee working there who had a great sense of service– and ask about words that many Americans would not normally know like Jicama or elotes. I haven’t seen him since the new year. The last three times I’ve went to taco-e/ajo the service was horrible and it’s mainly one miserable employee with long curly hair. I’ll talk about 2 of those instance. Each time I greeted her and was not greeted in return. Both times my order had a minor issue, and both times the employee was exuding annoyance and misery to be working at a food place. The first time learned jicama was discontinued. “That is alright, but I’m not big on the sweet add-ons, what do you think?” And she gesticulated impatience like “you gonna order or give me a difficult time.” There was no one behind me. The phones were not busy. I quickly ordered because with the posture and facial expression, I apparently was being a nuisance customer. The food came (I had a Caribbean bowl for in-store dining) and without mention, it came without the two usual fried/baked plantains that always had come with a dine-in order. So I said very politely to the counter chef– this doesn’t come with two plantains? He wasn’t unprofessional, nor exceptional. He said well– we can give you free tortilla chips if you like. And I was thinking out loud “tortilla chips with a Caribbean bowl– ehh — should I scoop my bowl with tortillas or how would that work?” Then the joyless lady at the counter chimed in “we had a long break and we just opened up so we don’t have plantains”. I already got that point and sensed she was annoyed again, so I said thank you I’ll just take the tortillas. Also after I put my food down on the counter and was getting water, her personal conversation with the co-worker was laced with profanities. Not really professional. The chips were mediocre. Cold, slightly stale. Ate some of it and threw out the rest since slightly stale cold chips didn’t really match my Caribbean bowl. The bowl was a 3.5-4 star. But more than anything I didn’t get why the lady was so annoyed and miserable. Despite this, I thanked them when I left as I always did . No response– the prior Ajo employee would generally respond. That’s ok. Minutiae. Then today I was like let me try some of their new product offerings. I wanted to try a few things and noticed the stewpork and chicken were both the same price for a “combo” which said “with two sides.” $12.50 for a two quesadilla combo. A little on the pricier side but could be worth it. I immediately was told by this same lady with the curly hair, “no you can’t do that”. And I said very politely if the concern is about price I can pay the higher of the two but I see that both are the same price. She looked at me very angrily so I was starting to say well if it’s practically difficult to do it then I don’t want to want to bother. And as I was saying ‘it’s fine, I don’t want to be a bother’, she was telling the chef and he was like ok, that’s fine. I asked about the ‘combo 2 sides’ and very abruptly was told it’s rice and beans. “Ok, that’s great, I would’ve chose those two to try anyhow”. Food comes and this same unhappy individual slammed the plate on my counter then the ‘quesadillas’ in a basket hardly looking my way. Firstly the food in the basket had runny liquids inside so poured out of the basket and onto the counter. A minor point but not the most convenient or economical for the store for me to have to go get a bunch of napkins to wipe down the counter. Then I opened up each ‘quesadilla’ and wondered– hmm no grilled cheese. I approached a guy in the back counter and politely asked “Is quesadilla supposed to have grilled cheese?” And he went to check the ticket, and the lady chimed in as she still held the phone, “my bad, my bad”; then to the chef “can you make two quesadillas”. At least I didn’t have to contend that I ordered what I thought I ordered, so one point of merit for her immediately acknowledging a mistake. I thanked them. The “combo” is not a good value. The fact that there was a problem with my order initially, ensured the 3 spoons of beans and rice were cold. Not at all worth the add-on price. Add-on is 0 stars, main is 3 stars. This time I left silently thinking I probably won’t be back– that they lost both a Taco-E and Ajo customer. 2-star food, 0-star service for an average 1-star review.

Order taco dinner and it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t like the original my biggest gripe is the price $11 and some change for a steak taco dinner that only comes with two tacos where everywhere else comes with three tacos the rice and beans we’re extremely small portion compared to once again everywhere else we had to wait for 45 minutes for our food granted it was opening week but this isn’t the establishments first restaurant and should have had things better prepared also extreme lack of parking people seem to be double parked everywhere which was causing a traffic jam on the neighborhood streets seems a bit dangerous

Have given this place a few tries since reopening but the food has no flavor don’t think they know what salt and pepper is. Ordered for pick up on info de mayo at 5:08 said it would take a hour so went there at 6:05 and still waited outside for a hour and it was cold! They should have prepared better for this day and should have stopped taking orders when they got backed up.

Ordered through Grubhub.. Even after delivery, the food was delicious.. I tried Steak Tacos and Chicken Tacos on Corn tortillas. Also a ground beef burrito. I liked the portion sizes. Meats were very tasty. The corn tortillas were delicious! Sides of Salsa Verde and Guacamole were also great. No complaints here. Hope they keep delivering to my area.
