Being from Arizona, I’m always on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant. I came across El Metro about two years ago and I’ve been going there every week since. Tacos, burritos, chilaquiles, they’re all great. One of my favorite things on their menu (on the weekends) is their Pozole. It’s phenomenal. The restaurant is bright, happy and uplifting. The owners, Betty and Vero are so sweet and accommodating. They really make you feel welcome. I recently placed a delivery order for a small, socially distanced get together at my house and my guests were blown away by the food. I put the order in early in the day, told Metro what time I wanted it delivered and they had everything delivered on time and the order was perfect. I can’t say enough good things about them. Do yourself a favor, support a local business and visit El Metro. You won’t be disappointed!
I love el metro! It’s authentic Mexican with a fun European cafe twist! It’s female owned and everyone is so nice!! They make great margaritas, and AWESOME food!! Best guacamole in Chicago! And the chicken tinga, fish and veggie tacos are a must! This place rocks!
Love this Place! We always get the Veggie Chilaquiles & Coffee-Chata & It always feels like a special birthday dinner. The outside patio addition is very nice and makes us feel great to enjoy our cold coffees. Definetly will be back! 5 Stars all Around Great Service!
Betty was outstanding!! Really helpful, sweet and kind, even on Cinco de Mayo over COVID quarantine, when a mad rush of delivery drivers were pressuring her and her team. She stayed composed while juggling taking orders, packing them and responding to demanding delivery drivers. Food was awesome!!
Feels super authentic!! I got 3 tacos and loved all of them, especially the conchinita pibil. The guac was also so tasty and the recommended pico de gallo was also great. If you’re looking for a quick yet authentic bite, stop by!
the worst burrito I’ve ever had. Lettuce was slimy, chicken was overcooked, and I couldn’t pour enough salsa on this thing to make it taste good. The burrito had this distinct taste- it tasted old and rotten. There is a reason this place has lower reviews on yelp. I tried it as I’m new to the hood and thought I’d give it a chance. Don’t make the same mistake I did. The best thing about this place was the bag the food came in to throw it away.
My boyfriend and I ordered a taco dinner which was advertised at a cost of $12.00. We quickly walked out of the restaurant ( I should have checked my receipt inside) and I saw that we were charged ala carte per the tacos. I called the restaurant to complain and was advised by the overly nice woman that was at the register, that she would send me a receipt ( she did) because she was very busy, and she proceeded to hang up. First of all, we were inside the restaurant 3 minutes before, and there was one person waiting for service. Secondly, the lady running the place has the vibe of a used car salesperson. She asked us 4 times whether we wanted drinks or extras! PLEASE STOP! Lastly, the food is horrible! Overly cooked and salty chicken mush and dry fish stick ‘ tacos’ for $41.00! Also, if you want a side of beans you get elote corn because who cares what the customer wants?!? Stick whatever side you have in the takeout box without informing your customer, and let them figure it out at home! Metro Cantina- respect the posted food prices, prepare better food, stop pushing alcohol sales, and sell customers what they ordered!!!!!!!
Great deals & service! The tacos and margaritas were really good. I loved the mango margarita:)
I love these wonderful people! I order all the time and they always give me such happy service and a smile. Even during this pandemic! She gave me bagels for free today!
