I must’ve driven past this place a hundred times. Kicking myself for not stopping by pre-lockdown. The chicken sandwich is on point. So don’t be like me. Get yourself a chicken sandwich ASAP! Here’s what you’ll be enjoying: A big fat spicy juicy thigh crisped to perfection and neatly placed in between fluffy buttery buns. Bow down, Popeyes. * The server lady could be a little friendlier though

I came across a video last week of a young man singing the PRAISES of Big Boss and it caught my interest! In the fierce war among chicken sandwich Barrons, how dare a local eatery put their chicken in the cock fight and try to score against the heavy hitters like Popeye’s and Chick Fil A. Big Boss did just that, and did score in my opinion. Although many restaurants are closed due to the pandemic, I was delighted to learn that Big Boss was still open for take out. I placed my order on line and when I arrived at the restaurant, my order was ready and waiting. I ordered the Big Boss Sandwich mild not dipped in sauce but just sprinkled, corn, and Mac n cheese. Once me and my order were safe and secure in my car I opened the box and was greeted with the most massive and picture perfect chicken sandwich known to man! I took a pinch to taste it while it was hot and fell in love!! Clearly this was a meticulously well pounded out chicken THIGH which absolutely LOVE! As I’ve stated in my past reviews, yep I got this baby home and attacked it like it called my BFF a B (I ride with my BFF even if I’m not directly assaulted)! The chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the addition of the slaw took me back to my days in Alabama where slaw is considered a necessary condiment in some parts – and rightfully so! The corn was good -a tab bit too buttery for me but I’m finicky about my corn. Along with this, I must admit that the Mac n Cheese was waaay too cheesy for me. Good but too cheesy. So my verdict? Verdict: Very Itis Worthy Get over to Big Boss and try that bomb chicken sandwich! They’ve proven that you don’t need to be a franchise with a million dollar test kitchen to get it right. I am just one of their test kitchen participants and I say YES!!

Fantastic! It is like Nashville chicken if a guy from Beijing made it. We ordered the sandwich at the spiciest level, a no sauce chicken quarter, and a box A split 50/50 at medium and spicy. We also ordered the pickles and sweet potatoes. Spiciest level is very spicy and I like spicy things. So beware. Take breaks in between bites spicy. Each spice level is still very flavorful. Medium has a touch of hot, but should be fine for most people. Sandwich is big. Definitely an entree. Pickles are sort of like pickled daikon and sweet cucumbers. Sweet potatoes are tempura style and very good. I would definitely come back.

Can you say BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN CHICAGO?! Like, holy cow, I cannot reiterate how incredible their fried chicken sandwich is. It looks a little pricey but the sandwich is amazing and it is HUGE! Been here a few times now and I’m always pleased. It doesn’t look like much on the outside (or the inside tbh) but the food is great. The inside does have some fun insta-worthy photos with the wall art. But the real highlight here is the food. The chicken sandwich is SO GOOD. It is crispy, well fried, and the perfect balance of spicy and savory. Breading is flavored and crunchy with a very mild level of heat. I prefer getting the medium heat level so there is a little extra sauce. There are also deals for jumbo (and I mean JUMBO) wing for $1 but again the chicken sandwich is really the highlight here. Really love big boss – will definitely be coming back soon!

I wanna start off by saying that I love this place! We randomly came here one night looking for food to it. The venue has a really cool vibe. The whole place is covered in murals of bright colors and random things. It’s very urban which is so fitting for the place. Very instagramable haha. I got the big boss chicken with the lowest spicy level which I think is no sauce. I am not kidding when I say this… it is one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Do not go to Popeyes. Do not go to chick-fil-a. Go to Big Boss! The size of the chicken alone is so big that it sticks out so much. It’s so crispy and juicy. Really really really gold. It has coleslaw in the sandwich which makes adds for the texture and flavor. I tried the sandwich which has the sauce and the spice level goes up. I loved it but it was too spicy for me. I wish they had sauce that wasn’t as spicy. The fries with cheese was pretty basic. Good but nothing remarkable like all other fries out there. They also had a promo of chicken leg for $1. It’s really gold. It’s crispy and juicy. Definitely recommend this place and I’m definitely coming back!

Finally got real spicy levels from a chicken sandwich. The big boss had my nose running. I was very pleased. The passion fruit juice is so good. The mac n cheese so super creamy. I can’t even believe I devoured this entire ginormous sandwich. Awesome flavors & the owner was super nice n friendly. I’ll be back.

Prior to coming here, I was thinking to myself why they don’t name their chicken after Nashville hot chicken since it appears nearly identical, but afterwards there’s a big reason why. It’s because it’s not hot chicken. It’s like a hot chicken but with like an Asian twist. When we walked in there was nobody to greet us. Then this lady comes out of her little office and asks us what we wanted to order. When we were still looking at the menu, she got impatient and said she’d be right back and then went back into her office for a couple of minutes. Since I’ve been tricked before with the “hot” which has a huge kick to it at other Nashville hot chicken joints, I assumed I shouldn’t get anything hotter than hot. So I ordered hot. My wife ordered their mild. Neither of them had any kick to it. The interior is a little confusing. It’s like they’re trying to be hip serving Asian fusion Nashville hot chicken sandwich while playing reggaeton. Not really sure what kind of crowd they’re trying to please here. But the whole inside was covered in very colorful graffiti art. The chicken itself was ok. Like stated before, it wasn’t really hot, but it was a huge piece of chicken. Yes bigger than Popeyes. The chicken was tender and very juicy so they get a big plus for that, and would probably return for that reason only. You also get a leg and thigh for an additional dollar when you spend $15 or more so we got one and it was crispy and heavily battered, but still tasted great.

I spotted this place on my way to Bridgeport several times, it’s very hard to miss on Halsted St with its vibrantly-painted facade. The inside is setup for safely in accordance with pandemic guidelines. Inside ordering is done via kiosk and is clear and easy. The food was brought out promptly as I waited outside. I ordered the chicken sandwich and a side of pickle salad. The chicken sandwich was truly unique, and reminded me of a Nashville-style hot chicken sandwich but was slightly different. It had an Asian flair to it, noticeable from the seasonings, possibly the addition of cumin or another interesting spice. I really liked it and the portion was huge. For $8 it is cheaper than some of the other chicken sandwich places, and the amount of meat was substantial. The pickle salad was also quite tasty. Great spot for unique Asian hot chicken.

For the amount of food bs the price, it’s worth it. The food is a bit heavy and greasy for my taste, and the spice level is pretty high. I always eat spicy food but the mild level here could pass a hot to other people.

The outside of this place is very cool with their graffiti art. The chicken sandwich was incredible! Lots of flavor and has the right type of spice and crunch! I would pass on the tea as it tasted like it went bad, just very sour, and alcohol aftertaste. Overall great experience and would recommend.
