Wood-fired pies & sandwiches, plus draft beer & wine, served in an industrial, brick-lined space.
Finally got to try the food ! I was attending a Sox game and why not support your local business. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We got asked if we would be drinking any wine or beer. I should have said yes but I was more interested in the pizza ! Menu is pretty simple, sandwiches, pasta, salad, desserts. I ended up ordering the grilled chicken sandwich stubby since my peeps were ordering pepperoni and magherita pizza. Ok let me tell you that sandwich was fire ! The spinach and onion really made the sandwich stand out, the bread was fire roasted as well as the chicken. The pizza was absolutely delicious! We kept saying we are full but ended up eating the 2 pizzas. For dessert we had a slice of banana bread, a slice of a brownie, and a cookie. The brownie and banana bread were sooo good! These slices were THIC! The desserts are from the red line cafe which is connected to the restaurant. I need to come back to try out the cafe side. Let me tell you our server was great! Refilled our drinks and did an awesome job on checking in on us! I didn’t get her name but you GO GIRL! She literally named all the desserts on the menu which is awesome I rather be remembering the desserts on the menu then learning about electrolytes lol. She was just so knowledgeable about the food on the menu. You know how there’s those people at restaurants that are not to happy to be there, this girl had a smile on her face, friendly, and gave great customer service. Support your local business and take a lil trip to the south side and try this delicious wood fired pizza !
A little confusing entrance, but once you walk in, your taken care of very well! National Pizza Day – they offered buy one get one free. Score! 3 people split 4 different style pizzas I’ll start of by assuring the great service from both the server along with the guy I believe was the owner? Attention to the customer in asking us if it was our first time and curious how we found the place. First thing is first, the vibe is very cafe like. There were a couple others sitting doing laptop work. I enjoyed the relaxed modern industrial twist. The menu isn’t complex and offers a selection for just about anytime of the day. Prices are nothing to be scare of just average. I personally feel well worth what they charge. The presentation of the food for a cafe is a solid 5 star. The pizza was great as I felt there was no cheese overload. Cheese is great, don’t get me wrong, but on a fire style pizza with non traditional toppings, too much cheese is quite not a good choice. You were able to get all the flavors of the toppings. I was starving so the pizza wasn’t enough, and I added a americano and shared dessert as well.
What a joy it was to enjoy a couple of pies made to order from a real wood fire oven. I ordered the bbq-chicken and the prosciutto and arugula. Both pies were superb and fresh. There had some hops on tap and bottles and enjoyed the porter on tap. It was perfect with the pies. The service was great and they were very attentive to assist. I also liked that they offer a free scoop of ice cream if you check in. Plenty of street parking.
A friend and I were looking to try a new place for lunch and decided to pick something in Bridgeport. We decided why not pizza? Because who doesn’t like pizza. This location is right in front of the white Sox stadium. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We both got the rose cider with their limited time pear salad and one of their popular pizzas the pesto burrata. The pizza was absolutely delicious and was the perfect amount to split for 2 people. I love wood fired pizza. For dessert we got the tiramisu which was amazing and a large portion. If you get in on yelp a free dessert is given with a order of a pizza. Our server was amazing. She was friendly and our food came out so quickly. She gave us the best recommendations on what to order.
I’ve been to this place a couple of times now. Well, more than that if you count just getting coffee at the place next door. They are actually the same business (or at least owned the same – whatever). Anyway, the point is that the food here is really good. The pizzas are good for one person if you are reasonably hungry, and two if you’re just looking for a snack. And man, the pizzas are good. Thin crust, great quality ingredients and wood-fired to boot. The service is quick and the staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Now, with the whole COVID-19 thing, I hope that they are doing pickups. I haven’t tried it since the lockdown (I’ve been home and that’s not close to Stix n Brix). But I love this food, so I can’t wait to get back there. And places like this are desperately needed in the neighborhood!
Good wood fired pizza, personal size, if you are in the area. Had the margherita pizza, burratta crostini, caesar salad.
EDITED: We came in here on a Wednesday for lunch. It is a clean establishment and the server was kind and attentive. There were a variety of specials, including a Wednesday deal for a pizza tower (3 pizzas for $30). There is an interesting variety of pizza flavors and they were tasty. I got the fig & pig, my friend got the BBQ chicken, and we split a brownie ($7). The brownie came with three scoops of gelato and you can pick the flavor as they had a variety to choose from such as strawberry and chocolate. The brownie was good but we agreed that it tasted more like a cake. We really enjoyed the gelato and how many options there were to choose from. If you check in on Yelp, you can get a free dessert with purchase of a pizza, which was wonderful. Specials were provided on a separate sheet of paper placed in the middle of the table. The fig & pig pizza price was $13.65 and the BBQ chicken price was $11.65. Before my review edit, I misunderstood the pricing since the receipts are done differently here (see comment from the owner). I apologize to the owner for the misunderstanding and he was quick in his response, which is great and quite helpful! For people who may be confused by the receipt, they add the sales tax into the pizza prices as well as list that number lower on the receipt. Then that total is rounded, for us it was rounded up. I think the confusion came from the sales tax being included in the pizza prices, then also listed lower on the receipt as well, and having that number not add up due to the rounding. As the owner Mario states in the comments, they try to avoid pennies, nickels, and dimes. Hopefully this helps people from making the same mistake I did! Overall, I liked the atmosphere of this place and its location close to Sox Park. I appreciate the owner’s quick response.
Great place to go for Pizza , especially if you’re craving one of those thin crusts and not the traditional deep dish pizza. Loved the ambience and the safety measures they have in place . Not expensive and this is definitely a place you should go to in a Bridgeport . Would recommend making a reservation before going in.
I’m not sure what I originally read or saw that prompted me wanting to try this place but I wasn’t impressed with the final product. You could do a lot worse but there was also not an awe inspiring pie during my visit. I will admit that their marinara sauce wasn’t normal. I can’t quite put my finger as to what it is about it but it just tastes like it has some tlc. We opted for a regular cheese pizza with half pepperoni as well as a Margherita pizza. The pies are personal says an allegedly are meant to feed two people but I disagree with that statement. Parking is tricky if visiting during a White Sox game but still doable especially if you head north of the restaurant. They restaurant also has a weird entrance but not impossible to find. It’s also “table service” however you pay at the counter when ordering
Ordered the sausage pizza. Tasty pizza. Decent sized for one person or stretching to two. They have something against cheese on their pizza so hopefully you’re not a cheese lover cause you will be disappointed. It’s more like spotted cheese pizza. For what they charge they can afford to add more cheese. You can see the sauce through most of the pizza. Atmosphere is chill and service was friendly. Had the pizza had more cheese then they would’ve earned the 4 stars.
