The steak tacos are fat (large) and ridiculously, delicious! At most places I order 3 tacos with cilantro but here after just 2 I am almost full. The american cheese between the tortillas was a surprise and quite tasty. The green sauce that comes with your order has little kick with great flavor. Last but definitely not least I almost always order the creamy, fresh and delicious horchata. Now for the question is this place authentic? I would say no BUT, the flavor, portions, freshness and service have made me a regular.
Typical Mexican menu items, affordable price. Meat quality 6/10 tortilla 7/10. Would go if I wanted big portions. Cash only.
During quarantine I’ve ordered both delivery and pick up, both have been quick and accurate. Tacos are super tasty and the hot sauce they provide gives quite a kick. They’re not shy with the amount of meat they give. I ordered the al pastor and asada tacos and loved them enough to order them again the second time around. The friends that I’ve introduced to Raymond’s has also enjoyed it and some have asked when we can order from them again!
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Still a great variety of flavorful food. Excellent tacos, burritos and even hamburgers and fries as well. If you’re from the south side you know
This place… oh my gosh. It’s one of my FAVORITE places to go for tacos. Every meat that I order (from steak to pork to chicken) is always well seasoned and tender. Though the tacos are a bit pricer than some other restaurants, they are definitely worth the money. When you add cheese to your tacos, they add the cheese in between the tortillas which is a game-changer. I rarely ever order my tacos with cheese, but Raymond’s has me hooked on their cheesy tacos. They also have the best horchata I’ve had thus far. It’s a perfect combination of creamy, watery, and cinnamon-y. FYI: this place is cash only. They have an ATM inside but I’m sure there’s like a $3 fee to extract money. Just come prepared!
I called and ordered for pick up & enjoyed the food. It was filling but I’m not quite sure I’m a fan of how they approached this. On the phone, I ordered 4 steak, 2 rib eye, and 1 al pastor – no cheese. It took us about 1.5 minutes to get the right order since he kept mixing the order. Understandable, it might be loud in there. However, by the end of the call, I asked what would be the total price and he just did not know. When I come to pick up, they didn’t know who was picking up for who so it was quite confusing. They don’t ask for names and rather call out orders by the order themselves. That’s really tough… Lastly, I received my order…and it came with cheese…and lettuce…and tomatoes… Now, I’d have to assume they charged me for the cheese cause I saw the price difference in the menu. This is NOT authentic by offering American cheese w/ lettuce and tomatoes. Is it because I ordered it in English? Sigh. Steak Tacos: Decently flavorful, a great amount of meat. Ribeye Tacos: Echo above. More tender. Al Pastor Tacos: Decent but definitely forgettable. Horchata: This is good but a bit too creamy and a bit too sweet for what I like.
Decent late-night option on the Lower West Side. I’ve stopped here a few times when other taquerias are closed. The tacos themselves aren’t bad, but they aren’t amazing, either. I’ve had the asada, pastor, ribeye and chicken and in that order are the best to worst. The ribeye would be better if they trimmed the meat. The burgers are a pretty good value for the price, they are not super thick patties, probably similar to McDonald’s, but are much better. You can order the tacos with cheese and its actually a slice of American cheese put between two tortillas. It’s actually pretty good on the asada tacos, but not so sure about the others. The green salsa they give you is tasty as well, sometimes can be a bit spicy but usually is just right. The price is reasonable and the tacos are pretty good sized. It’s not quite trendy Pilsen prices but not Little Village authentic (low) prices either. I believe without cheese the tacos are around $3 each. Service is fast and friendly, I am in and out in minutes usually. Cash only.
My boyfriend and I love this place! I get something from here at least once every two weeks, and my boyfriend probably comes here more than once a week. So close to my house and great for a late night bite. They honestly have one of the best lengua tacos I’ve ever had along with their pork tacos being delicious as well. They slap soooo much meat on to this perfectly fried tortilla. Their horchata is just right (not too sweet and not too milky) and goes perfectly with the whole meal. I know that this is mainly a fast food joint, but I was surprised to find out they don’t have avocados. Doesn’t make the craziest difference to me, I was just surprised. There would probably be a line outside the door if this place weren’t cash-only, but it doesn’t seem to be hurting their business at all.
Definitely my favorite burrito around. I’m always excited to get myself a steak and onion burrito from Raymond’s!
So I love authentic mexican that’s flavorful and Raymond’s is just that. My favorite is the cheese between two shells and the whole ribeye placed on top. Now this isn’t one of those tacos that you can eat three of..2 is the max. The ribeye and all the fixings (you must add raw onions, cilantro and add a grilled jalapeño) will leave you wanting to go home and take a nap.
