Fast food restaurant
Fast-food chain specializing in fried chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries & Texas toast.
Visited twice so far, once on opening day and again on a random Sunday afternoon. Service and food was excellent both times. So thankful to have this place in the neighborhood so I don’t have to drive up to Edgewater every time I’m craving a perfectly prepared chicken tenders.
Didn’t live up to my memories of years go. Loved the Texas toast. Fries were soggy and had no flavor. Tenders are fine, but you can as good or better almost anywhere. I won’t come again.
While visiting Chicago Canes is a really hyped up place so we had to try it. Let’s start off by saying the location was very clean. As soon as we walked in we were greeted. The cashier was very friendly. We order a chicken sandwich and some tenders, Texas toast and fries. The bread was tasty(reminded me of a sweet hamburger bun). Fries were good I would of preferred well done but still good. Chicken and sandwich were very basic not the greatest but not the worst. Attentive staff while we dined in & pretty quick service.
What you’re gonna do is come here for the chicken and the Texas toast, that’s it. The fries a drinks are fine but if you can swing it without a combo do it. Make sure you get the special sauce. Everything else was meh. Lemonade was lacking flavor, though I watched them pour it from the bottom of the barrel. So it may have been better if it want almost done, it’s tasted mostly like water with a touch of lemonade. The fries were fine crinkle cut fries. Identical to those that you would get at Portillos, tho not as crispy. Still good, not amazing. Okay let’s get to the good stuff. THE CHICKEN. You bite and your like okay it’s good, and then the next bite you get more spices, then more flavor and it just grows. It is SO GOOD. Like so good. The Texas toast is so good. I got it with BOB (butter on both sides) which you need to request and you need. It’s so so so good Besides what’s stated above, the portions were small. If it was economical, I’d get 6 chicken fingers and 3 toast, but the combos save a lot money… even if you don’t want the fries or drink. Pro tip: line can be long, order 5 min before you get there on the app to save time
This is my second Cane’s I’ve visited. The Harwood Heights location was my first. This one compared to the Harwood Heights location was a bit underwhelming. More expensive and smaller tenders. That’s probably why they gave me 4 strips instead of 3 for my meal. My friend got the 6 strips meal and somehow hers were larger strips. The fries were as good as the HH location but the garlic bread slice was tiny compared to the HH location. Loved the interior though. All the Cubs memorabilia. Don’t know if they were game used but neat anyways.
This is not my first rodeo at Cane’s. When I lived in Kansas, I used to go to Cane’s all the time. I was so excited when Chicago got this Cane’s and had missed eating it a lot! The service here was so fast. Like, incredibly fast. We waited literally only two minutes. Could be because there was a Cubs game today, so they expected a lot of people. It’s very spacious inside there so if you’re dining in, it looks like it’d be a nice atmosphere. We did take out for the box combo. Delicious as always. Best fast food fried chicken hands down. Nice mix of freshness with the coleslaw to offset the greasiness that is fried chicken lol! And canes sauce is AMAZING!
Very excited about this location because only a few miles away from the house. No need to travel out to the suburbs to grab yummy chicken tenders. My husband also is a fan and was excited when I annouced that we were grabbing takeout. We arrived to this location which is primely located near to Wrigley Stadium. We were able to find parking but could be an issue on a busy game day. I noticed that the street parking requires a permit further down the next block. Decoration at this location is probably the best that I have seen. I have been to nearly 15 Canes in four different states. After Tempe, AZ location this one is the most glamorously decorated Canes. I will also say this the smallest one that I probably have ever been in. No drive through that I noticed but outside dining was nice. Food: We got a Box each (4 strips, fries, cole slaw, bread, sauce) we always sub cole slaw for either more fries or additional bread. I like more bread and hubby wants more fries. Husband had famous sweet tea and I made Arnold Palmer with unsweetened tea. Food good as always. Sauce was on point. Husband thought tenders were smaller than normal, however I thought they were comparable to the ones in AZ. This location is going to be a hit for this neighborhood. As soon as ballgames are rolling we will visit again. I am sure folks will be getting their Canes before and after the game. The prices here are fantastic. Our bill was less than $20 and I had leftovers (2 tenders and 1 bread). Enjoy folks!!!
Finally, Raising Cane’s has arrived, we no longer have to go to the ‘burbs for their crispy, juicy goodness! Their prices are better than Chick-fil-A, their seasoning & breading lighter, and the portion size bigger – what’s not to love? Plus they have outdoor seating in addition to ample indoor space. Their unsweetened ice tea actually tastes like freshly brewed tea, we always get an Arnold Palmer: half unsweetened ice tea + half lemonade = perfection. They’re well staffed and efficient, we got our food within 5 minutes. Definitely check it out before the line builds out the door.
First off, the staff here is so friendly. They are always welcoming you and checking in. They also allowed me to bring my dog in with me to pick up an order, had a treat for him, and made him feel like the most loved dog ever! Second, if something is wrong THEY WILL FIX IT! I had a mix up with an order where a side of something was missing, and within hours the manager had returned my call and comped me my meal. They are so friendly and for a chain you do get a neighborhood kind of vibe. Love sitting outside here too!
With the new raising cane’s opening in Union station DC I couldn’t be more excited to to go back to the nearest location while traveling. I am in the Windy City (WrigleyVille) to cop the classic tender meal with a side of Sweet Tea! P.S. Definitely enjoyed the art and souvenir art, Thanks!
