Ok here is a breakdown of what I ordered: Pica Pollo Bistec Encebollado Bistec Sandwich Empanadas Yuca Frita Every item I had was good and I can’t wait to go back. TIP: Don’t be in a hurry cause your order will take time to prepare…Great place and good customer service.
Our first time at Morena’s. SO the restaurant is nice n’ clean. The guy there greeted us and was very welcoming. He didn’t have a thing or two from the menu which was okay because the food we ordered made up for it! The pica pollo was so good- served with rice and beans. I had the carne guisada and boyyy lemme tell you, it was amazing! I had it with arroz con gandules and let me not forget the parcha, yum! One BIG issue I did have was- there was no running water in the washrooms so I couldn’t wash my hands OR flush the toilet!!!! please fix it asap!
Drove from the suburbs to try their food. Even though the owner was out of town and they had a limited menu, the food we had was delicious. We had Piica Pollo and goat stew. Both were amazing. The two men working there were very nice and friendly. We will definitely be back!
Authentic Dominican place. If you are going to this establishment, be prepared to be full. You will be able to taste and smell the Dominican Republic. Their country, Mountains, sea the cultural heritage behind. Great place to eat!!
OMG! I couldn’t be happier to have found this place. Service was good, food was great. I ordered the mangú con los tres golpes ( salami, queso frito y huevo frito). Onion was cooked to perfection, just authentic Dominican food. As a Dominican living in Colorado, it’s hard to find a Dominican restaurant but while visiting my in laws in Chicago, I decided to try and see if a Dominican restaurant was available in the area and BINGO! My wife ordered the pica pollo and steak sandwich, she was very happy with how tasty the food was. I bought some salami and longaniza to cook at home. Happy kid!
Got a chicken empanada and an order of steak/ onions with Dominican rice. The rice is pretty flavorful with little beans in it. The steak was tender and nicely seasoned. We ordered some chicken to go as well. The chicken was fried but the taste isn’t normal like other chicken I’ve had. It’s extremely savory, I believe it’s also flavored with some kind of garlic. Was pleased with the dining experience.
Phenomenal!!! The closest to the island that you will get, guaranteed! Morena’s is a tiny spot on Grand ave off of Laramie and it is worth the drive or walk if you’re in the area. The food is amazing and full of authentic Dominican flavoring. Minimal sitting, however enough for a small party or you and a friend. Morena’s is very welcoming and makes you feel as if you are in a close relatives house. I tried the typical breakfast plate and it was everything I’ve been missing and more!!! (pictured below). Can’t wait to go back and try the entree’s. You’ll definitely leave full and satisfied. (:
The pico pollo (fried chicken) is awesome. The crackliest skin that, when bitten into, can be heard across the room. Additionally, the queso frito (fried cheese) is oily, crispy, and delicious. The empanadas and tostones were fine. Not great, not bad. Unfortunately, the pico pollo didn’t include the habenero salsa that we were really looking forward to. There were also some language barriers when calling to place our order, leading to another error, but that may have been on our end.
I got the chivo stew…it’s a little on the salty side, which is fine with me because I love salty, savory things. As a side, I got the habichuelas & rice, and I love how I can taste the solito in everything. I’ll be returning to try the parcha & milk cake next And sorry I was unable to provide a picture…I was too busy inhaling my food.
