Retro-style eatery featuring classic American fare such as cheeseburgers, shakes, wings & fries.
When it comes to my diet “cheat days” to have some meat and milkshakes, this may be my new go-to spot. From the one time I ordered, the burger was great, the service was good, clean, and COVID-19 hygiene was being followed.
Let me preface this by saying I try to be intentional about frequenting the black owned restaurants in my neighborhood, because I love us lol. I love the food at Mikkey’s and the food at the other restaurants (Litehouse, Soul Shack, etc.) but….the wait time is ridiculous. Ordered via Grubhub for curbside pickup @7:57, walk in at 8:35 to see only 2 employees in The back slipping and sliding on grease spilled on the floor, takes them about 15 minutes to address me. 3 people have been waiting for orders before me. The manager walked in at ~ 8:45 ish and asks the other employees if this order went out yet (calls out my order) by then it’s 9:00 and my food was just being prepared. Don’t get me wrong I’m still going to come back but the timeliness is a major issue. Especially since people will be making an effort to support more black owned business…
Had the jerk turkey burger. It was a bit spicy but it has great flavor. The fries needed salt but they were good too. What’s even better is that everything in Hyde Park was closed. No one was answering the phone, but they were taking online orders.
The prices are very misleading at the Hyde Park location. The menu shows a totally different price. Not counting the tax.
I ordered off of Uber eats, never been to this restaurant at all. I order a grilled chicken sandwich, a snickers snake, and the garlic Parmesan fries. Well my order was missing the snake as well as they substituted my grilled chicken for a turkey patty which was burnt and the fries were salty. When I tried to called the restaurant several times no answer as well as the mailbox was full. I will not be ordering from them again
Well, I am so disappointed in the service and the food here! After spending $30 here on food for me and my bf I’ll never return. To begin it took about 10 mins to be serviced, keep in mind that there was no one ahead of me. The gentleman who took my order seemed to have an attitude bc I didn’t want to use the kiosk, but I didn’t say anything just placed my order and kept it moving. I get home and my order is completely wrong and I’m left a completely plain hamburger and literally 7 french fries. Smh! I won’t be returning. They def have fallen off since first opening.
One of the best Angus deluxe burgers & fries & huge onion rings I’ve ever eaten. GO OR ORDER,… YES& Amen
I’ve gotten the nacho burger twice with a hard fried egg and I’m never disappointed! I’m sure the rest of the menu is great
I really enjoyed my burger but my chocolate peanut butter milkshake was all kinds of right and the flavors danced around on my tongue like they were having a great big party. They do not serve any type of pork and I found that out by ordering my burger with bacon and it was turkey bacon if I had known that I wouldn’t have added the bacon. That was my only issue with my food. The young man at the counter didn’t really seem that helpful at first but he actually changed our minds as we began to figure out our order. I do wish he would have told me the bacon was turkey though but I digress. The burgers also came with Fries which was cool since some places make everything al la cart. It wasn’t really crowded on the day that we went but the food came out pretty quickly and we just ate it right there. There are a few other things that I want to taste on their menu and I look forward to going back. As always Folks…. Be Safe and Enjoy!!!!
I get really sad when I have to leave bad reviews for fan favorites, but I have to be honest. Mikkey’s Retro Grill has those and a myriad of other American foods on their menu– like burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and Chicago’s famed Italian beefs. I was very excited to try this restaurant at their Hyde Park location, as I had heard good things and the food looked good in pictures. Do NOT be fooled by the presentation, though. These were some of the worst wings I’ve ever had. The chicken itself had no flavor– it did not seem like it had been seasoned at all prior to being fried. The breading was crispy, but the lack of seasoning ruined the #crunchfactor. The Rico’s Mild sauce was more like a spicy BBQ sauce than anything; it was relatively okay but did not make up for the lack of flavor in the chicken. The buffalo sauce was almost inedible; there was some sort of herb (either dill or basil? I couldn’t exactly tell) that completely threw off the flavor palette. Anyone who knows me knows I like to finish my whole meal or at least take home and enjoy leftovers later. I could NOT finish the wings nor did I have any desire to take them home. I also had a taste of their Joe’s stuffed double cheese burger and it was absolutely bland, even with all of the toppings. The only reason this got 1 star was because I had a piece of a jerk chicken Philly and that was ok. Let’s hope I just had an idol lates bad experience.
