The best prime rib for my dad’s. 84th birthday. Placed order and drove down to pick up the order that was waiting.

Restaurant week! We came here for the meat, and they delivered. We got the spinning bowl salad, california cut w/ lobster, and toffee pudding. Salad, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, all come with the roast prime rib. We chose surf and turf from the restaurant week menu and the lobster tail was juicy and delicious. The roast prime rib 6 oz serving was more than enough w/ everything else that comes with it. This $48/person meal fed us the next day as well. The meat here is aMAZIng!! The restaurant is definitely very fancy, the waiters/waitresses have some funky outfits. The food, however, as delicious as it is, isn’t unique or fancy. Definitely would come again, though. Everything is delicious.

We both ordered the English cut and both were 1/3 Fat. We use to go here every week. The servers all have changed they no longer carve your prime rib table side. We were very disappointed I think that Larry’s prime rib will be off our list

Get here while you can!! Snagged at B-day ressie and was fed like a Queen! If you are going to go, do it right and get the Prime rib. The dinner is classic and the prime rib is carved in the dinning room, and is absolutely delicious. They can accommodate no matter what temperature you like it. I ordered medium rare. The dinner also includes the spinning salad table side presentation, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. For an up charge you can upgrade your side. Trust me the scalloped potatoes are worth the price of admission!! Service was just as exceptional! We were. Welcomed in warmly and they pulled out the table for the round booth so we didn’t have to do the booth scoot! They also dressed the table with a beautiful red satin birthday sash and really made the whole dinner feel special!

The Chicago Lawry’s The Prime Rib in our honest opinion has overthrown the original in Beverly Hills. With not only excellent Prime Rib, but excellent management to match. We dined here for our anniversary and everything was perfect, they even gave us a letter thanking us for choosing them for our anniversary! The Beef Bowl was 9.5/10, the customer service was a 10/10, everything was perfect from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out of the door. They definitely upheld the Lawry’s Code of Ethics which goes the extra mile, and that’s one of the things we love about Lawry’s. All of that was our previous opinion. But after our last couple experiences, along with a change in Management we feel Lawry’s Chicago just isn’t what it once was. Our server, Ms. Johnson was extremely rude to me and my family during our birthday celebration. She refused to acknowledge our birthday, despite acknowledging several others near us. She left our table very abruptly rather than providing us with Lawry’s famous service. When we told her our drink was flat she basically stated “too bad” or “we can’t fix it” without even trying. After waiting almost an out on our birthday we hadn’t received any food, not even a salad. Every other table she served received service swiftly, we watched her because we thought it very strange. Then we discovered it was due to our son opting to play with a doll (quietly), rather than an action figure. She felt that since he was a boy it was inappropriate and she basically refused to service us, despite it being noted on our table it was a birthday visit, and despite us having flown to Chicago specifically for this birthday dinner. When we made a complaint about it the manager refused outright to even reach out to hear our concerns, much less to anything to fix our situation. Update 8/28 – True to my word we flew to Chicago again to give Lawry’s another chance having been our favorite for nearly a decade. They truly let us down, we ordered the Beef Bowl Cut which from their information says it should be 24 ounces. The Cut we received was 16-18 ounces at most. But that wasn’t the biggest disappointment, the biggest disappointment was the quality. This meat was in no way, shape or form “Prime Quality” as it was in the past. It seems they have switched to Choice Beef in an effort to save money which is shameful. It tasted like “Prime Rib” you’d receive at a Casino Buffet. I can’t believe they’ve sunken this low and it’s very depressing for us to see our favorite restaurant brought down to this low.

This place is a Chicago staple, it is very very old-school feeling in fact when you walk into the place you feel like you’re walking into a late 70s supper club. The waitresses look like they have not had an updated uniform cents again the 70s. Upon entering before I even had a chance to sit down the manager told me to remove my hat I was going to remove my head anyway but let’s not get crazy this place is not that that fancy but we must have hats removed. I have been to this location now probably three or four times and your experience really does rely upon your waitress our server was very good but she did not really take a lot of effort in doing the spinning salad which they are known for. Some waitresses will stand other tippy toes whole thing the dressing high above The salad bowl while it spins really get into it and it makes it taste better. They’ve added a bunch of new items to the menu and offer more now than just prime rib but you have to be a fool to go to this location and get anything other than prime rib. I don’t really know the thought process behind them not only sticking to the prime rib on the menu. You can get many different cuts of prime rib they come with sides of mashed potatoes or cream corn cream spinach and also mushrooms And Yorkshire pudding.. my only complaint about the entire meal is that the prime rib has about 60% fat but the 40% of meat is pure heaven. I would not really suggest drinking very heavy will go in here since they charge about $16 per cocktail which is not crazy for Chicago standards but the amount of alcohol you get is very very little. I will say though that for the best prime rib in Chicago this place really does have it. If you were from Chicago or just visiting definitely check this place out he will not be sorry.

I called in an order for a carry out. The person who took my order was very pleasant and asked when I would like to pick it up. Usually, restaurants say that it will be ready in so many minutes, so I appreciated being able to have the time option. Everything was packaged perfectly. The bags were labeled. There were six small containers of gravy, salad dressing, etc and each container was taped shut so there was no leakage. I commented to my husband that getting our dinner ready for carry out took more time than serving it in house. The food was absolutely delicious.

Restaurant week 2020 $48 dinner – surf and turf with Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes, Lawry’s spinning bowl salad, and sticky toffee dessert I came with a group of coworkers. Most of us got the surf and turf and our vegetarians got the portobello steak. Everyone enjoyed everything they got. Prime rib was tender, not chewy. Lobster and salad tasted fresh. Coworkers raved about the sticky toffee dessert lol. Service was friendly and good at taking care of our table.

I told my mom I would treat her to dinner for her birthday. She said I really would like a REALLY REALLY GOOD Prime Rib Steak. So I heard Lawry’s was closing at the end of the year and we haven’t been in so long and enjoyed the last few times. So in a nutshell she got her wish! Thank you to our waitress Ms. Parent & our carver Albert for outstanding customer service! Everything was delicious from the melt like butter prime rib to the creamed spinach to the creamed corn to the mashed potatoes, to the salad, to the yorkshire pudding. An let’s not forget the Chicago Sunset and the Raspberry Beret Cocktails. And to top it off her Raspberry torte birthday cake. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM & THANKS LAWRY’S FOR YOUR AWESOME SERVICE – Chicago will miss you

I ordered the Lawry’s cut for takeout. The first issue is that I ordered online, where the page clearly states 20% on all takeout or curbside pickup orders, however the checkout page did not reflect that. When I called to inquire about that I was told that they are no longer offering that promotion. It is disappointing to see that their website is advertising something that they are no longer honoring. The second issue was that I placed my order well in advance for pickup at 6:00, and I was there promptly at 6:00. My order was ready and I was home by 6:15 expecting to enjoy a delicious hot meal. Everything was COLD, the warmest thing was the mashed potatoes which had just a hint of warmth. That being said, the prime rib was cooked perfectly medium rare, as I had ordered, and tasted delicious. However I was expecting things to be hot at the time of pickup, it seemed to be that my order was prepared well in advance of the pick up time, and just sat there getting cold until the prescribed time. Lawry’s has a great reputation, and it is sad to see that they will be closing this location at the end of the year. Depending on the state of things with COVID-19, I may dine here again before they close – but that would be for dine-in only, I would NOT order takeout again!
