Perfect snack while waiting in line for the aquarium. The price point definitely seems a little steep at $9.50 for a dog, chips, and water. The ladies working the stand were friendly and had me on my way quickly. I had a Chicago Style Dog with everything on it. (I didn’t want to insult them and add ketchup). It can’t get much more authentic than this!

I was so excited to see this small hot dog stand offering vegetarian / vegan Chicago dogs! There weren’t many tourists around on a rainy fall day, but locals were still flocking to Kim and Carlo’s! I got a hot dog with everything, chips, and a drink for around $8 (CASH ONLY). “Everything” includes pickles, hot peppers, tomato, onion, mustard, relish, and celery salt–but no ketchup because apparently that’s a major faux pas. The vegan Chicago dog was so good! The bun was softly steamed and the toppings basically constitute an entire salad. Obviously with a veggie dog you are missing the “snap” of a traditional hot dog casing. But I was so thrilled I got to participate in a Chicago tradition! If you want an authentic Chicago dog experience I would definitely recommend Kim and Carlo’s. They’re posted up right outside of the Field Museum. Hours may change depending on weather!

We experience our first Chicago Hotdog here and it was everything and more. Sometimes a hot dog cart hits the spot. Located beteeen the Aquarium and Field Museum. They offer the classic Chicago dog with all the fixins and also offer other options for vegans or people with allergies. My boyfriend is allergic to wheat so he brought his own bun and ordered a dog and we were all so happy. The prices were awesome and everything was ready fast. Hot dogs were amazing and I wish I could come back!

Came back to Chicago a year later and stopped off at the location right outside of the aquarium. This time I just got the Chicago hot dog, cause how can you not get a Chicago hot dog when you are visiting Chicago. That being said it was way better than the first time I enjoyed my first Chicago dog. This place is a great location to get a bite before or after your trip to the aquarium. Just make sure to save room for the best popcorn at the aquarium also 😉

Hot Dog Bites Back! When you bite into your Chicago-style hot dog it should have a “snap” to it, a little resistance from the casing. Use that comment around the hot dog cart, and you’ll sound like a real connoisseur. In the early nineties Kim opened her first hot dog stand and she loved it! She hasn’t looked back. She had a small walk up window on Ontario Street for several years and eventually was awarded a contract with the Chicago Park District. Word has it that this stand has been in this spot for 30 years. Great place to get a snack. Kim and husband Carlo, a classical and Flamenco guitarist. When not serving hot dogs to hungry customers, the family loves to travel.

Came here during a trip to Chicago since the yelp reviews are excellent. We took a lunch break during a Shedd Aquarium visit to swing by here. Went with the turkey dog Chicago style. It was very good, but at the same time, I don’t know how they are different or unique from the myriad of surrounding hotdog stands. Overall a great experience and definitely recommend!

Hubs and I were feeling snacky after walking around the Field museum for a few hours and decided to get a classic Chicago Style Hotdog. Some locals recommended Portillo’s- but we actually have some of those in FL that I’ve been to and we wanted something truly Chicago- so we came to cart right outside the museum. I was a bit nervous at first to get a hotdog from a little stand but it was actually delicious! I’m a Ketchup girl but I knew better than to mess with the classic. It wasn’t as hot as it could have been, but we were hungry, and it hit the spot. (If you’re a spice/heat wimp like me, maybe opt for no peppers on it)
