American restaurant
Relaxed chain restaurant with an expansive menu including pub fare, steaks & pasta.
We met another couple here for dinner, their choice. I haven’t been to a Houlihan’s in ages. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. I had the seared tuna salad with a sweet ginger dressing and it was delicious, perfectly prepared. It had all kinds of little crunchy things that just made it fun. The wine selection was what you would expect from a chain restaurant, nothing great, but adequate. Service was good, too. My husband had a burger and said it was good, as well.
Great food Also amazing staff and my server Julie s was awesome she was super nice I wish you guys could copy her and the manager was super nice thank you I will definitely be coming back
I had a 5-star experience here and I paid for it. $$$. The total bill for a salad, a small steak, and a Jack & Coke was $35 bucks. I mean, damn! That’s at least $10 more than other comparable chain steakhouse. I didn’t even get a dinner roll. The restaurant had plenty of staff working. Water glasses were filled, empty plates were removed promptly. The steak was delicious and cooked just right. The salad was fresh and served on a chilled plate. I had a coupon for a free dessert. The 5-stars is for a) good food and b) professional staff. But I can’t see myself returning here.
While their lunch service timing is wonderful, I think that the portions are way too small for the price being charged. My salad was delicious, but for the small quantity of ingredients I left still hungry and feeling like I overpaid. If their food price matched equally with their great service, it would be much better!
My wife and I are regulars. We enjoy several of the menu choices, and usually get a soft drink with a few refills. All of the staff are friendly and efficient. It’s a great local place, even if it’s a chain, and the food is all prepared fresh in the kitchen from scratch.
So when I heard that Houlihan’s had the Impossible Burger, I jumped on board and tried to figure out a day I would head all the way out to Wheaton. It took awhile, but today I finally made it out there with the three in tow(what can I say, I’m a glutton for punishment). The hostess was fabulous, leading us to our table after pointing out the diverse collection of family games. I appreciate they now offer this, we love games. However, with the competitive nature of my 7 year old combined with the possibility of being able to get up at any time for the other 2 made for madness for this Mommy. At any rate, I love the sentiment and thought, games are awesome! Our waitress was an absolute doll and started all 3 with carrots and ranch dip. So sweet. I then ordered their famous Stuffed Shrooms and how I love them so! These are what dreams are made of, seriously. They are the reason I would always hit up Houlihan’s when they used to be in Oak Brook. So fresh and creamy, with the zing of a horseradish type of dip. Next, I added a cup of tomato bisque to my Impossible Burger, because for an additional $2.95, why not? I’m also a fan of the soup, as those beautiful cheese fritters float amongst the creamy goodness! The Impossible Burger. Enh. White Castle honestly has better. And bigger! I honestly cannot stand when veggie burgers when they have a solid patty form, they are way too boring. This was the case with their Impossible Burger. No uniqueness to their burger, I felt like they placed a typical Boca Burger on top of my bun. Very disappointing. At any rate, I love Houlihan’s for their shrooms and soup. I can take or leave some of their entrees. The customer service was excellent, although she did forget to offer the kids meal free dessert. I was okay with this, though. I’ll be back.
Came here recently for a late lunch with my folks. I got the Soup and Salad That Never Ends, which was nice because you can try different things. House salad was good, potato soup was tasty, but the star of the show was the French onion soup: this is definitely the best place for it now that Mimi’s is gone, with a real richness of flavor and nicely bruleed cheese cap. Our waitress was a pleasant blend of alert but chill. We eat at this location and the one on 59 quite often and I’m sure will keep doing so. Keep up the good work!
Service was mediocre. Nothing on the menus looked appetizing and a bit pricy. Ordered only a Bloody Mary and it was watered down and not good.
The drinks were over priced, watered down & the food was terrible. So disappointed. I saw this place had high reviews so I thought it was going to be good but unfortunately I was wrong. Would not recommend.
Been a long time since I’ve been into a Houlihan’s. Close to home and Granddaughter wanted to eat somewhere we haven’t gone so Houlihan’s it is. Went on a Thursday afternoon and wasn’t busy at all. Maybe 6 or 7 tables occupied. Decor was nice and restaurant was clean. Love the fact they have the outdoor dining even if the view is not so great. Area is good, you can grab a movie at the studio grill or shop at Pete’s as well as lots of other little stores. I had a cheese burger and granddaughter had kids chicken tenders. Cheese burger was good but not served with any condiments other than a container of ketchup for the fries and the fries are very good. Chicken tenders were decent I had a bite I thought it had a taste of fish (shared oil). Something pretty cool with the kids meal they give a side of carrots and each before the meal and then a scoop of ice cream at the end of the meal Very smart as kids get so bored and keeping their little hands busy right away is always a good thing and the carrots are the petite carrots so very sweet. Service was good and waitress was very friendly.
