Upscale chain serving New American fare paired with house-label wines in a contemporary setting.
This is not a review about their wine. It’s good. It’s reasonable. It’s what they are known for. I have never been a coopers hawk fan. But since I was invited out for my bday I thought ” why not”? My sister and I started with a tasting. For 8 bucks, and some really good crackers, it’s a great little happy hour type of situation. Hell I even joined the wine club. The only problem is you have to stalk others to find a spot at the bar. Since it was my bday, we had dinner. The preztzel bread they serve with butter is really good. Keep it coming please. I had the braised rib gnocchi. It was damn good. The meat was rich and the gnocchi perfectly cooked. No issues on this visit. 7/30/19: things in the game done changed. Went for lunch and I will be canceling my wine membership. Big change in service. It was not crowded at all. The hostess seated us after about three minutes. Why? She had to put her hair in a ponytail. I get it but why the wait in a non busy place and why the hair touching a food establishment ?!!!!! Next up we are seated. Our server is nice but sloooooooooow. Lunch was really good. Spaghetti and meatballs were yummy with a very rich and meaty sauce. I had a bottle for the table, cranberry my fave , I asked for it to be recorked five times but waited so long after we paid bill I just left it I like the wine and the tasting but I don’t plan to venture past the front of the place.
I had a good time eating here with my sisters. The service was great but it took a long time to receive our meal. We had a lot of pretzel bread to hold us over. I ordered the Dana’s parmesan crusted chicken with garlic green beans and Mac and cheese. The chicken and green beans was delicious. The Mac and cheese was bland and dry. I will go back but will not order Mac and cheese as a side!!
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. I love a diverse menu, that is reasonably priced, and delicious. Favorite items include the short rib risotto paired with the cooper’s hawk red blend and the pork belly tostadas as a start. Also love their salads and Seafood and the Cooper’s Hawk White. A go-to favorite loved by our family.
Okay so I am literally OBSESSED with these Brussels sprouts! OBSESSED! I can come here and eat 3 orders all by myself. Both times I have been here nothing disappoints. Love the outdoor patio. Love that the staff all have masks on properly. Service has been very welcoming and friendly both times. Restaurant looks very clean. I see the staff wiping tables after each customers departure. Love this place!
Came here with a friend who raves about this place. It was packed but hosts were super friendly and made seating a breeze. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable, allowing us to taste a few wine choices before deceiving which we’d like a full glass of. He gave some great suggestions and we ultimately got the blueberry wine which was delicious. He had suggested a fruity white white (the passion fruit) which was delicious as well! Great suggestion. We had planned on getting appetizers and dinner but we each ordered an app and the servings were So large we decided to stick with apps. My friend got the chicken egg rolls which were delicious, as well as the drunken shrimp which were so good. I got the meatballs and they were amazing. We did opt for dessert- I got the cheesecake and she got the banana toffee pie. Both were excellent. As we ordered dessert we asked if we could sample another flavor of wine and our server happily brought it to us! Such great service. I definitely will come back to grab the entree I was looking at and try more wine PLUS buy a bottle !
What a treat it was to dine here recently! The food was fabulous, exactly what I was hoping for! Seems like all the covid precautions were in place, and that made me happy. Lastly, the service was completely amazing! Even the manager stopped by our table to check on our dining experience… I think her name was Kathy… It was very appreciated, thank you. All in all… Highly recommend!!!
I have to write 5 stars for the staff who worked Mother’s Day weekend, 2020 at CH in Oak Park. They had a difficult job of prepping and packaging meals to go due to Covid, and in my opinion they rose to the occasion. Food was hot, tasted like it would have if it was served at their restaurant, versus the 20’min ride home. The greeters who ran the food to the car took our questions and provided a sense of ease were on point also. And the wine, we wish we got more then 1 bottle. Cheers Cooper Hawk, hope to make it to your restaurant after we get thru this time.
Ouch… note to self. Do NOT order steak from Coopers Hawk again. Skirt state about 5″L (these should be at least 8 to 9″) and it taste horrible. Like funky. The type of meat that is just bad. This is the second order in the last two orders that was just bad. Bummer!
Now Cooper’s Hawk has a great reputation but my first visit at this location was mediocre. My sister and I arrived on time for our reservation and we had to wait about 5-7min before we were seated. (Not happy bc at other locations I was seated right away). When our table was finally ready, I believe it was the manager, walks up with menus in hand and says, “are you ready?”. Ummm we’re starving of course we’re ready. HOW RUDE! Our server was very nice and courteous, which is why this review is 3 stars instead of one. There were gnats flying all over our food and drinks, which were disgusting. I probably won’t be back and will continue dining at Naperville or Downers Grove. Do better Oak Park.
