I couldn’t believe the food I received today. There was hair in the guac and barely any steak in my tacos and looked like something you feed an animal. Went straight to the garbage.
The food was great, but several of the employees who were preparing food were not wearing masks. I enjoyed my surf and turf burrito, but we probably won’t be risking it by going back.
Delicious food and friendly service. They were accommodating to our big complicated order and appeared to be practicing safe Covid handling. Highly recommended.
Consistently great delivery experiences. Ordered the steak fajitas today and everything was well packaged, large portions, and I was so pleasantly surprised the steak and peppers/onions stayed crisp as if I was dining in. Love the tortillas and everything is well-seasoned. My new go-to Mexican spot for take-out 🙂
First time eating here and will be back for sure! I got the shrimp steak taco salad. All the ingredients were fresh and the food came out quick. I ended up getting the fried ice cream and WOW!! The workers were so friendly too. Update: came here a second time. Got the shrimp tacos. So good! The cabbage gave it a nice crispy texture. The chipotle mayo was delicious.
So my lady friend became obsessed with this place recently. So naturally I helped myself. I ordered a steak burrito, guacamole and chips, chicken taco, carnitas taco, veggie burrito, and loaded cheese fries with steak. I will talk about what I loved first. The veggie burrito, chicken taco, and steak fries. The veggie burrito was filling and flavorful. The chicken here is soooooo good! The steak fries had a ton of meat! What I didn’t like was the steak burrito…where was the meat? I got a steak quesadilla as well and it was pretty good. The sides are meh. The refried beans are standard and the spanish rice was sad. I made my own Spanish rice after hearing my lady friend rave about this place and it didn’t compare. All in all I’m torn on this review. The flavor of the food is inconsistent across the board. There is more good than bad here. I just wish there was more outstanding.
Nothing special. I barely got any meat in the tacos. wouldn’t go back . I’ll keep trying for a decent taco spot
If I’m not mistaken this restaurant underwent new ownership, or changed the name, or something, because there used to be a mexican restaurant with a different name at this location, and it was amazing. I am happy to say La Mexicana is just as good, if not better! Was craving some quality mexican the other day, and remember the former places that occupied this space. I used to live on Clifton and got take out all the time. Being back in the neighborhood, I was curious if it was still there. To my surprise it was not, but discovered La Mexicana. After reading the rave reviews, I was willing to give them a try, and I am so glad I did! Ordered delivery, and it arrived quickly and still very hot! I had the chicken chimichanga dinner and a side of chips and salsa. All I can say is WOW! The chimichanga was amazing. Fried and crispy, it held together very well and was filled with huge chunks of chicken, melty cheese, and loads of other goodies. Make it a dinner so you get a small side of rice and refried beans, which were good as well. I love spanish rice, and I could have had a whole side of just that. The salsa was also delicious. You can tell it’s homemade, and the portion was huge. The chips were slightly stale, but that was the only downside to my meal. Everything else was amazing. Def adding La Mexicana to my regular delivery rotation.
This place is the real deal. Disregard my first review…
The Cinco de Mayo burrito is like a taqueria exploded in your mouth. Trust me, that’s a good thing. Puts the typical Chicago burrito to shame.
