This place was WONDERFUL!!!! Everyone from the person checking us in at the door to the hostess to the waiter to the servers who gave us our food… were friendly and wore there masks PROPERLY. I felt super safe, and appreciated the glass screens on the stage for a safe protection for the performers and for us. Music was amazing and felt intimate. Now.. the FOOD. We got the calamari and crab cake which I would get again 100%! I got the Cajun shrimp risotto for the main and husband got the braised beef short rib. We cleaned our plates! Bartender made amazing mojitos as well. Highly recommend you come here!! (Ps there was a $15pp charge at the door)

TL:DR – People are complaining about the wrong thing in their reviews. This place is a jazz venue first and bar/restaurant second. It gets high marks for the jazz portion. Our food and service was average. But the high prices to go along with a high cover charge is a huge turn off. Andy’s Jazz club is a very jazz focused venue that happens to serve food. There always seems to be this choice you have to make when listening to jazz of do you want to go somewhere where the jazz is really good but they don’t serve food? or do you want to eat something while listening to your jazz? Andy’s is a happy medium where they REALLY focus on providing great jazz while serving some food. That being said, people’s reviews need to be re calibrated. Someone complained about being shh’d for being too loud at the bar. It’s a performance, stop it. Someone else complained the food was too bad, then go to a restaurant. This place should primarily be judged on it’s ability to bring you good jazz, and all that other stuff second. So, is it good jazz. Yes. And they have a lot of it. The setting is on the higher end, in that there are white table clothes on each table, vs. a jazz bar that’s primarily a bar with wooden tables everywhere. For my party of four, we got mac and cheese, the “Chicago Style” calamari, and the fish tacos. The mac and cheese was decent, wish it was a bit cheesier and the jalapeno’s more mixed throughout. The fish tacos were huge, and felt like it contained a small fish in each taco. The calamari was alright. For chicago style, it really just means topped with Giardiniera Peppers. Service was good too. We also got a Moscow mule, which was mixed nicely. They have a good beer/cocktail selection as well. All in all, it was a good experience. My only gripe was that the prices were really high, which would have been fine on its own, but the cover was already $15 a person. You’re already making free money, how about being reasonable on food prices. Yeesh.

Went for a night out with my partner. It was a Saturday evening and there was live music. The music was good. The food was good too. The vegan pasta was good as was the vegan cupcake. The service was ok. It was busy but not as busy as it was on other nights I’ve been there. I was a little surprised the service was not as good as it was in the past. The atmosphere of the place was great. I will go again.

I love jazz clubs. There’s a certain sophistication, a hip night on the town, that goes along with a dark, used to be smokey, jazz club. The music is cool. The patrons diverse and often progressively aware. They get it. These clubs are having a hard time staying open and making money in this country. Young people are not into jazz, and I dare say, the homogeny of the technology culture doesn’t accept nor understand the free form of jazz. The consistency and simplicity of “indie,” a misnomer label for the banality of this music, captures the millennial fancy. I have personally seen jazz clubs close in Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Washington, D.C., and Salt Lake City, where it never had a chance. Andy’s is a wonderful throwback to a time of cool; an era of Miles, Jackson Pollack, Jack Kerouac, Lenny Bruce, and Mies. If you know these names, you get it. For a ten dollar cover, you get a comfortable seat, friendly smiles, and get to listen to superb music. I didn’t eat at Andy’s, but the food looked good enough. If I lived in Chicago, I would be at Andy’s a few times a week. I don’t go out in Salt Lake City. An Andy’s Jazz Club isn’t even in the imagination of 99% of the people living in Utah. I was at Andy’s for an hour, taking in smiles, compliments on my hat, glasses, and style. I didn’t see one Salt Lake scowl or plastic smile. Andy’s is Chicago. I love being here.

1st time at Andy’s Jazz Club, but I have always wanted to go, and it was great. Went to see Frank Catalano and his trio (not sure if he normally performs with a drummer, but he/she was not there). He is amazing! Not too often do I hear horn players with that type of range. Also, he’s played with the greats like Tito Puente and Randy Brecker. Need I say more?! If you get the chance, go see him, but with the drummer missing, it was more “loungy” music instead of upbeat and energetic. He did a great job driving it, but with no drummer, it lacks the “head bobbing” vibe. Overall, the volume was good. Piano probably needed to be turned up just a little bit, but I could still hear everything. Post COVID, they do take temperatures when you enter and do enforce social distancing. and I really enjoyed coming here post COVID Most jazz clubs I have visited are very crowded and they pack you in like sardines (Yoshi’s in Oakland, Green Lady in KC, Catalina in LA), but post COVID, you now have your own table and its very intimate. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the privacy and being able to have everything to ourselves instead of sharing with random individuals. The food and the drinks were good. Not great, just good. We shared a plate of ribs and a caesar salad. Ribs were soft and flavorful, but the salad tasted like a McDonald’s salad (not that good). I ordered an old fashioned, but it lacked the luxardo cherry and didnt have the crushed brown sugar. Same goes for the manhattan that I ordered, it was slacking. At the end of the day though, I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back.

Great place for live jazz in Chicago. Jazz sets available on a nightly basis. Seats approx 200 people. Cozy atmosphere with a full menu. We decided to stick with appetizers. Lump crab cake, parmesan chicken wings and truffle fries, which are delicious! Be sure to ask for extra dipping sauce for the fries. The music was great and worth the small cover charge. Great place for both locals and tourist.

{Overall: 3; Music: 3} Service: 2.5 Ok experience. The jazz was really loud. Whenever people at the bar were talking, they would get heckled by the band…I’m not sure what the band expected. It’s a bar after all and the music wasn’t always the most captivating, so people will talk. The food was average bar food.

Andy’s was an awesome place! Loved the live jazz band that was there. The host was wonderful as well and was more the willing to help me get a closer table. I ordered a burger, it was decent, but definitely over priced. Overall the atmosphere and music was definitely worth it. As a jazz fan I was delighted in the experience!
